Introduction to Millinery - Sinamay Headpiece

Introducing you to the magical world of millinery!  This is a beginners workshop where you will learn a whole host of skills to start you on your own millinery adventure!   You will learn how to create your own fascinator base using sinamay straw blocked on a traditional millinery hat block.  I will also teach you how to create a range of sinamay trims and use hat veiling and feathers to create your own unique headpiece.  You will not only take away your headpiece, but all the skills to re-create many more at home.  

You will learn the following skills:

1. Simple blocking techniques using sinamay straw to create a fascinator hat base.
2. How to wire and bind the edges of the fascinator base and attach to a hat elastic or headband.
3. How to use a range of techniques to manipulate sinamay and create a variety of decorative trims for your fabulous headpiece

A basic level of sewing is required.
